It is a very special day today. One of my beautiful nephews (I have four, all equally as gorgeous!) has a momentous birthday. Today he turns ten. It is extra momentous to me as it made me realise that it is ten years since I was commissioned to write my first book, Easy Baby Knits. How do I know this? Because little Finley, who is not so little today, was a beautiful baby model for it. Only six months old at the time of the photoshoot and with the brightest smile you have ever seen. All the people at the shoot commented on what a happy baby he was and said that the old adage 'Never Work with Children...' definitely didn't apply to him! Hence, there is quite a lot of him in the book!
Anyway, in a lovely coincidence, nine years after it was finally released in 2007, Easy Baby Knits has just excitingly been reprinted with a fresh new cover. And guess who the new cover model is? My gorgeous Finley. Happy Birthday beautiful boy and thank you my lovely for being the smiliest model I ever did see.

Baby Shower
Today I finally handed over the beautiful blanket I sewed up for my little friend Emmi. She is the beautiful daughter of one of my best friends and late last year her friends and family knitted a bunch of squares at her baby shower to go into a blanket that I hope she will have always. I think this is the best blanket I have ever pieced together, what a gorgeous bunch of colours and textures and haphazard shapes. Sorry Gemma and Emmi that it took so long, but the weather today was almost autumnal, so perhaps it is good timing...

baby shower
Life has a strange way of running away from you and as I have a new(ish) baby, and a new challenge time seems to be flying by lately. I have neglected the blog and my own work terribly recently, so will be aiming to post about all I have been doing since I was away soon to catch up.
Firstly, a very Jubilant baby shower, coinciding with the Queen's Jubilee earlier in the year. There is a bit of a baby boom amongst my circle of friends at the moment, and it is Felicity's second gorgeous little girl, so there were baby bumps and adorable babes galore present at this one. And come to think of it, loads of girls, not one boy amongst us, unless it transpires that the two bumps are...we shall see!
Apologies in advance for the baby food picture Felicity but it is hilarious, and the girls eat it, so it can't be that bad can it?! (although I do recall one bowl was spinach apples and swede...)
Enjoy the scary queen mask, cute podgy babies, cake, oh and a little bit of knitting! After the blanket we made for Felicity's little Grace was such a hit, she has decided to give sewing up the blanket a go herself, so will let you know if it ever gets finished in between two sets of nappy changes, feeding and general baby madness!

a new arrival...

A recent break in the blog and my knitting life in general can be explained by this little person, who will be receiving the sole attention on my needles and hooks for quite some time! During my career break, I shall try to post occasionally about my projects, such as the green booties she is sporting, or trying to, in the above piccie, for her and any interesting things which my happen in my now very different life. The green booties are a very simple pattern from my book Easy Baby Knits which I had great fun re-knitting for my own little bundle of joy.
Knitting as normal will resume sometime next year.
